Our bird/small animal area has begun to change with 13 ventilated glass enclosures going in in September, allowing us to provide a consistent environment for hand raised birds and and the aviaries receiving new transparent roofing and a water spray cooling system for the birds so we can cool them on hot days and give them a regular bath! They seem to really enjoy the water and stand on their perches anticipating the water when the nozzles start to sputter! We plan to expand our 6 aviaries to 9 early next year to give us extra holding capacity so we can provide a wider selection of birds. We usually have over 100 birds in stock at any one time, including finches through to alexandrines and bigger.
Our aquarium area has finally expanded to 15 banks of 6 tanks each, making a total of around 10000L of water for fish to swim in and the lids and fronts have finally gone back up after the shaking has abated. Our new dedicated plant tanks and marine/coral banks are being setup currently. Every tank is UV sterilised and the fish look great behind low iron glass. Each tank is insulated which really helps when you are two days without power post earthquake (not to mention the monthly power bill!). Our new filtration systems provide our fish with excellent biological filtration so you can be sure of receiving quality livestock.
We accept internet payments by direct credit/Internet bank transfer - so you don't have to use a credit card if you don't want to!
We specialise in hand raised companion birds and aquarium keeping, but still have a full selection of dog, cat and small animal equipment. All our staff are qualified in an area of pet keeping.
We have been importers of tropical and marine fish up until march 2009 and we are now endeavouring to get our new transitional quarantine facility built as quickly as possible. Good things take time - please bear with us! Earthquakes definitely don't help!
We hope you find the product selection we have made available, interesting and useful. We think we provide an excellent service and are now looking to save our outfield customers the trip to our Christchurch store.
